E. B Rains Park, Webster Lake, September 6 - 7 2008 (Saturday & Sunday)
Relay for Life is a nation-wide overnight walk/run event that raises funds for cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services. In Northglenn's Relay for Life, survivors of cancer are also honored at a brunch, a victory lap and during opening ceremonies.
In September, 2007 over 700 people gathered at Webster Lake in Northglenn for the overnight event, as 39 teams set up their campsites, joined in games, special events and music and walked or ran around the lake. The goal is to keep at least one team member walking at all times, both day and night.
Teams raise money through donations and $102,000 was raised at the 2007 Webster Lake Relay for Life in Northglenn. While this was very commendable, the committee hopes to exceed this in 2008. Watch for more information on how you can become involved with the Yellow Team at the Northglenn Relay for Life. |

By the time the sun was going down, the wind was pretty furious, and we felt like we were in a refugee camp. Our little shanty town. |
Sam & Erica, cute as ever in the lateday sun. |
Erica, Sam & Danielle zipped around the track lap after lap. |
Early in the evening, Clark was not afraid - just like a Viking! |
Sam & Erica went on the Paddle Boats. They ventured under the forbidden bridge!

As Night fell and the luminaria bags glowed across the water, it was almost eery. It was so still. |
It was really pretty the way the lake relected the luminarias behind a symbol of hope. |
The Survivor's Ceremony was a little bit tough at times, probably for a lot of people there. |
They streamed the names of all the luminarias and read them aloud. So many names! Too many names. |
Kaela's Luminaria |
Lu's Luminaria |
the Luminarias.
So many Luminarias. |
and more Luminarias. |
Clark and Lu reflect upon the Luminarias. Reading each name, one right after another.
Way too many names. |
Sue & Mr. Crabby had just returned from the final lap of the Poker Laps. |
Mr. Crabby (our star of the Stuff Animal Round) prepared is cat ears for the Hat Round. |
Sue George prepares her kitty ears for the Hat Lap.
Ooh, calico, just my color! |
Wow, what happened? must have been a tough Hat Lap! |

The daytime temp on Sat was around 89, but that night it dipped to 48. The wind was relentless, but we all had a very fun, though often bittersweet time. |
