MissionFish and eBay have teamed up to bring you eBay Giving Works, a dynamic fundraising platform for nonprofits through trading on eBay. MissionFish is the provider of The Giving Assistant, the listing tool for eBay Giving Works. MissionFish also provides nonprofit verification, donation collection and disbursement, tax receipting, and online contribution tracking. When you shop eBay Giving Works, a portion of the money you spend benefits The Mickaela Foundation. Want to help us to be able to help others? Just look for the eBay Giving Works ribbon icon on eBay's "view item page." eBay Giving Works offers buyers satisfaction in making a difference and supporting positive change. It offers assurance that your donation gets to the intended nonprofit, and it guarantees that The Mickaela Foundation is legitimate and in good standing.
The Mickaela Foundation is registered with eBay (as screename "tmfdonate") and MissionFish, and The Mickaela Foundation appears in their database.
You must register with both eBay and MissionFish it is quick and easy. Here's How to Register, and How the Program Works
- If you have yet to register with eBay, go to www.ebay.com and register now.
- Assuming that you are already a registered eBay seller, you must also register with MissionFish. At the top of www.missionfish.org, click on "Register," and complete your registration process. Now go back to www.missionfish.org and click on "Sell Your Item" at the top of the page.
- You can also get to this same "Sell Your Item" point from eBay's site. Enter the eBay site and log-in as usual, and hit "Enter." You will be taken to the eBay page with the banner that reads, "Sell Your Item: choose selling format." Down on the right side, click on the Giving Works ribbon logo, and that will take you to the "Welcome eBay Giving Works" page. Here, you will click on the orange "Sell Now" button on the right side of the page. This takes you to the same MissionFish "Selling an Item" page as (1), above.
- When on the MissionFish "Selling an Item" page, search the listed charities and find The Mickaela Foundation There are several nonprofit names listed that look similar to ours, so be careful to select The Mickaela Foundation and click the circle next to it. In the nonprofit database, you select a percentage of the final value that you want to donate to us. When we registered with MissionFish, we told them that we would accept participation in all listings, without having to be notified.
- Next, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the "Find A Nonprofit" page and click on "Continue." This takes you to the MissionFish "Sellers and Nonprofit Sellers" page. Follow the instructions from there.
- Your item then goes up for sale on eBay, based on the seller's schedule, if specified. Your item will appear with the eBay Giving Works ribbon icon. The Children's H.E.L.P. logo, our abbreviated mission statement, and the donation percentage designation will also appear in the "Item Description."
- When the listing ends, the buyer pays the seller, and the seller ships the item to the buyer - as usual.
- The seller pays their donation to MissionFish. If the seller does not pay by the second Monday after their auction ends, MissionFish collects the money from seller's credit card automatically. MissionFish holds the donation in escrow until the end of the refund period (end of the month when the auction ends
+ one month + 15 days).
- MissionFish then distributes the funds to The Mickaela Foundation and provides a receipt to you, the seller, for the gift. Your donation may be tax deductible, please consult your tax professional for more information.
What's the money deal? How much of your donation will The Mickaela Foundation receive?
MissionFish keeps $3 + 2.9% of each transaction. According to MissionFish's rules, the minimum donation is $5.00. So, if you donate the minimum $5, Children's H.E.L.P. will receive $6.71 (67%). If you donate $100, Children's H.E.L.P. will receive $94.10 (94%). To read the specifics about this program, and to view some example breakdowns of costs from sample transactions, click here: MissionFish.
With MissionFish, every buyer knows how much of the final value of a listing is being donated, and to which organization. And every seller makes the donation that they promised or a $5 minimum gift (whichever is greater).
