Ray Cooper of Mile High Harley-Davidson has been a long-time friend and supporter of The Mickaela Foundation so we were invited to many of the dealership parties and functions throughout the years. We would set up our little yellow table, giving away t-shirts, talking to people about breast cancer, insurance and motorcycles. This was never really a huge fundraising opportunity for us, more a fun way to get the message out and raise awareness about breast cancer and the uninsured. We met so many really great people, and always had so much fun with them.
In 2006 the Mile High H.O.G. Chapter adopted our Foundation as their designated charity. The combined efforts of The HOG chapter and Mile High Harley-Davidson helped us raise over $15,000 last year! The fundraising they have done has been some of the most fun we have ever had as a Foundation, and the men and women of the HOG Chapter have proven themselves as some of the kindest and most decent people we have ever had the pleasure to meet.
This year, we are happy to announce that we have again been chosen with the honor of their fundraising efforts. They helped us to work out an arrangement with Ray Cooper at Mile High Harley-Davidson to create a raffle where The Mickaela Foundation Board of Directors will raffle off a 2008 Denim Blue FXDB Dyna™ Street Bob™ appropriately named "Bob". The dedication displayed by this group is amazing and quite humbling. Several members have even taken a step farther by joining our Board of Directors and forming a special fundraising committee. No one complains or whines when volunteer opportunities arise, they cheerfully go at it with a "no holds barred" style and enthusiasm. They have never asked for anything in return or for any recognition what so ever. They are like Rotarians, but more fun, and with bikes.
