 The Mickaela Foundation Receives a Grant

The Mickaela Foundation has been awarded a 2004 - 2005 Komen Grant for $50,000 to help
us provide treatment funds for uninsured breast cancer patients in Colorado. This is a
huge honor and opportunity for our Foundation.
This allows us to award up to 4 treatment funds per month to uninsured breast cancer
patients meeting our criteria. Previously, we were able to fund as monies came in from
private donors, often creating a bit of a waiting list.
Another benefit of this grant is that we can now offer 2 Trial Fundings. Trials are a
way for patients to receive the most up-to-date treatment at drastically reduced costs.
There are downsides, of course, but the opportunity for advanced treatment methods can
outweigh the possibility of placebo or ineffective releases. The decision to enter a Trial
is a deeply personal one. The Mickaela Foundation does not encourage or dissuade
participation in Trials, we merely want to help fund those who decide to enter them.
